What age should my child be for the different classes?
We recommend that if your child is 3 or it's the first time being away from home they start in the 2 day a week class. For children who are 3 but can handle being away from home and 4 years old, we recommend the 3 day a week class. For the kids that are getting ready to go to kindergarten and who have shown that they are ready for the extra challenge of being away from home, there is the 5 day a week classes.
What do I need to pay upfront for registration?
There is a $40.00 non-refundable registration fee per family, due at the time of registration. This includes a MPCA family membership for the school year. The registration fee holds your child's spot for September. In September, you will be required to pay the first and last month class fees.
What are the volunteer commitments?
You will need to volunteer for one event for the community. When you register, you will write a check for $100 that will be returned to you when you have completed your volunteer commitment. It does not get deposited unless you don't do your volunteer hours before the end of the April. We do not mandate parent volunteering in the classroom however we will need people to step up and volunteer when we do field trips.
As part of preschool licensing, we must thoroughly clean the entire preschool monthly. This includes toys, walls, chairs and tables. For this job, many hands truly makes for fast work. Due to this, is is required that one adult for every enrolled child must sign up and attend two of our monthly cleanings bees. The ensure this is accomplished, parents must deposit two undated $20.00 cheques on Orientation night.Upon fulfilling your cleaning bee requirements, your cheques will be returned to you uncashed. For safety reasons, we ask that you do not bring children to the cleaning bees. Cleaning bee sign-up must be finalized by April 30th of each school year.
Is there a parent orientation night?
Yes! There is one at the end of August every year.
Can I stay with my child for the first couple of classes?
We recommend that you do not. We have found that children will adapt better to being away from their caregivers when the caregivers don't stay. If you have concerns, please feel free to talk to the teachers. They will do their best to make the transition as easy as possible for you and your child.
